Have you ever wondered what foods help keep your skin in its best condition? The old saying "you are what you eat" applies here as well. The good news is that your allies for the skin are easy to buy and they are super delicious.
Today we have asked Anna Botterweg from @anna.nutricion to help us with a very easy recipe to keep our skin healthy and glowing.
For the smoothie we need:
[ingredients]
1 boiled carrot (or steamed) 4 min - makes vitamin A better absorbed, which is very beneficial for mucous membranes, skin, hair and nails.
150g of pineapple - contains enzymes that help digestion and eliminate toxins from the intestine.
10g fresh ginger - start small and increase if taste is tolerated, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. Helps kill bad skin bacteria.
10g of fresh turmeric (or 1/2 tablespoon if powdered) - super anti-inflammatory.
1 tbs of hemp seeds - carries the 9 essential amino acids and many healthy fats that make the rest of the ingredients absorbable since most of them are fat-soluble.
1 tbs of collagen peptides (or the portion that marks the container). Skin is mostly made up of collagen and we often don't get enough of it from our diet - it helps maintain skin firmness as well as elasticity.
*If the taste is tolerated, add a little bit of black pepper - it makes us absorb 200% more curcumin, which is the anti-inflammatory compound in turmeric.
[method]
Put all the ingredients together in a shaker glass with 150ml of filtered water.
